Why Is It That You Always Want More From Life?

Can you not be content
With what you have?
No matter how rich you are
Or how poor you may be,
You always want more.

Where Will You Go When You Die?

The poor person would look
At the building near
Where he lives and wished
He had the money to
Buy a house in it
Where Will You Go When You Die?
The rich person
Living in the building
Would wish he had money
To buy a bungalow
The person owning a bungalow
Would wish he had
The money to buy a mansion
Where Will You Go When You Die?
Why are people so greedy?
Why are human beings like this?
No matter what a person gets
The person is never ever happy
There is always the feeling
FOR MORE
More and more…
It never stops!
Why is it that
You always want
More from life?
Where Will You Go When You Die?
Can you not be content
With what you have?
No matter how rich you are
Or how poor you may be
You always want more
And more and more
It never stops!
Where Will You Go When You Die?
A rich looking gal
Walks into a bank in Los Angeles
Just before setting off
For her vacation abroad
She asks for a $10,000 loan
The bank clerk says to her
Miss, what would you use
As collateral for this loan?
Where Will You Go When You Die?
The rich looking gal says
I’ll use my $4.5 million Lamborghini
The bank clerk is stunned and says
A $4.5 million Lamborghini
For a $10,000 loan?
The rich gal replies
Yes, definitely
And then she gives the clerk
The keys to her posh
Lamborghini
Where Will You Go When You Die?
The bank clerk and
The other loan officers
Laugh at her
They start checking
Her credentials
To determine
If she is genuine
And that if she actually
Does own the
$4.5 million Lamborghini
Where Will You Go When You Die?
All the checks confirm
That the rich looking gal
Actually does happen to own
The $4.5 million Lamborghini
They take the keys
To the posh Lamborghini
And they park it in their
Underground garage for 3 weeks
The rich looking gal
Goes away
A smile on her face
Where Will You Go When You Die?
She returns from her vacation
After three weeks
And goes to the bank
She repays her $10,000 loan
Plus the interest of the loan
The bank clerk says to her
Miss thank you very much
For being a valued customer
But I have a question for you
The rich gal says…
Shoot
Where Will You Go When You Die?
Miss, we found out
That you are a billionaire
So why did you
Need a $10,000 loan?
The rich gal smiles
And says to the bank clerk…
Where in Los Angeles
Can I park my posh
$4.5 million Lamborghini
For 3 weeks
For only $38.21 and
Expect it to be safe and sound
When I return?
Where Will You Go When You Die?
Greed is something
That almost all humans have
It is part of this
MATERIAL WORLD
But to be a better human
To be a better soul
You NEED to strive
To overcome your greed
Lest your greed OVERCOME YOU!
Greed
“The ugliest thing in America is greed, the lust for power and domination, the lunatic ideology of perpetual Growth – with a capital G. ‘Progress’ in our nation has for too long been confused with ‘Growth’; I see the two as different, almost incompatible, since progress means, or should mean, change for the better – toward social justice, a livable and open world, equal opportunity and affirmative action for all forms of life. And I mean all forms, not merely the human. The grizzly, the wolf, the rattlesnake, the condor, the coyote, the crocodile, whatever, each and every species has as much right to be here as we do.” – Edward Abbey (American author and essayist – January 29, 1927 – March 14, 1989)

  1. Hi Atma. I read this post with interest. Money is an interesting thing. The Bible says that the love of money is the root of all evil. However, to have money is to have the ability to do a lot of good in the world. I’m pretty happy that I’m not very materialistic. I don’t have a lot, but I’m grateful for what I have.

I feel sorry for people who long for things they think will make them happy and then found no pleasure from them; who work continuously, sacrificing time with their spouses and children to get more material goods; and angry with those who feel it is their right to steal from others hard-worn gains.

I take a bit of issue with the quote by Edward Abbey. I am a believer in capitalism. Our American system has allow more people in our country and around the world to have a better standard of living. Our biggest problem that so many of our citizens, like Mr. Abbey, that hate our country. Mr. Abbey has a utopian view of the world that is unrealistic. I’m all for people being given the opportunity to pursue a good life, but I don’t believe in the ‘one world, open borders ideal’, and I also think I have more rights than an alligator. 🙂

    Thanks for sharing your thoughts.
